I have always been a big fan of maximum stability, so this switch does not surprise me and I’m happy to see this style become more readily available from many different brands in the coming seasons. While their earlier models weren’t the most attractive shoes on the market, the 2014 collection features a significantly improved appearance as well as a lighter feel. They are so amazing, in fact, that multiple other brands are attempting to emulate their design.

I say the the Hokas are great “long distance” running shoes because the thickness of the midsole isn’t necessarily needed for shorter runs where the strain is less severe. That being said, they are of course just as comfortable no matter what distance you’re running.

The volume of the Hoka’s midsole is designed to absorb shock and reduce fatigue in the runner’s feet, legs, and core. The Meta-Rocker is designed for active recovery a guided foot gait cycle.
