There are a lot of advantages to using trekking poles on your hikes, but not everyone feels they are necessary. Some of the advantages we enjoy while using trekking poles include added balance, a more even weight distribution (especially while carrying heavy packs), and the ability to strengthen core muscles during our hikes.
