The Big Agnes Q-Core Sleeping Pad in Action

This past weekend one of our MPGear crew members, Devin, went on a camping trip and he was looking for the perfect sleeping pad to take with him. After considering several different sleeping pads like self inflating pads, lightweight pads and some accordion style pads, he decided on the Big Agnes Q-Core Sleeping Pad.

I asked him for some feedback after he returned from his trip, and this is what he had to say about the Big Agnes Q-Core:

“I was thoroughly impressed. It’s the most comfortable I’ve ever been camping. Some highlights:

1) The thickness. I’ve been camping with a 2.5″ pad before, and I didn’t think the extra inch would make too big of a difference, but holy sh*t. You know those AeroBed things they sell at Costco? Yeah, it felt like one of those.

2) The construction. OK, so with most of the backpacking pads we sell, you’ll notice there are “baffles” (the horizontal or vertical beams) that make it feel like you’re sleeping on a pool toy. It’s certainly better than sleeping on the ground, but it’s a far cry from the comfort of a traditional mattress. The Q-Core has a unique construction pattern (Big Agnes calls it “alternating I-Beam”) that provides more even air distribution, and thus a much more comfortable sleeping experience.

3) Integrated sleeping system. So I have a Big Agnes bag and pillow as well, and the three products melded together perfectly, like a beautiful harmony being sung by three sirens. The Q-Core fit snugly into the pad sleeve and the pillow into the pillow pocket. My friends (and, admittedly, myself) had never seen anything like it. It was true beauty. I almost pitied them as I crawled into my bag and watched them unroll their Colemans onto .5″ closed cell foam pads, but this feeling was soon drowned out by the deep slumber that consumed me almost immediately once I zipped my bag up.

The Q-Core was worth every penny. Excellent recommendation.

So, there you have it, the Big Agnes Q-Core is officially MPGear Certified by one of our own crew members. The Q-Core is currently available at MPGear.com and, as with all orders over $45 in the Continental U.S., comes with FREE shipping. If you have any other questions regarding this product, please feel free to email Devin directly at Devin@mpgear.com.

  1. Fantastic website you have here but I was wanting to
know if you knew of any message boards that cover the same
topics talked about here? I’d really love to be a part of community where I can get responses from other knowledgeable individuals that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks a lot!
